The Springhouse

A spring is a place in the ground where water comes out. The water is cold. It usually goes into a small stream or a pond.

A springhouse is a small building that sits on top of a spring.

The water from the spring fills a trough. People used that cold water to keep their food cold. They also got drinking water from the spring.

How do we keep our food cool? Where do we get our water?
